Sculpture

conifer, steel

In the installation "Spiked Dress", a discarded Christmas tree is transformed into a state of protective bondage by a rigid arrangement of metal rods and thorns. The massive metal structure, inspired by the iconic aesthetics of BDSM culture, shows the human tendency to want to control and limit nature.

At the same time, however, it also provides a "conceptual cocoon" that keeps the tree in a state of isolation. The installation raises questions about the legitimacy of human intervention in nature and the moral implications of our "protective efforts".
