Mimi Kohler's "Du machsch en Zirkus!" is not only a work of art, but also a profound symbol for man's dualistic struggle between the chaos of civilisation and the order of nature. The 93 manically constructed red and white miniature circus tents symbolise the repetitive, often compulsive rhythms of human life and the cultural expectations that bind us. They also reflect the tensions between Kohler's own artistic understanding and the expectations of her family, especially her grandfather. His lack of understanding of her career choice and art in general is reflected in the titular comment "Du machsch en Zirkus!".
